Might as well be OVERJOYED about it ... because hosting the Super Bowl is the closest thing Minnesota will ever come to _winning_ the Super Bowl.

I worked the 92 Superbowl. I remember walking in to the dome and not recognizing it. Back then all the media was concerned with was ice fishing. We have so much more to offer.

Certainly the welfare draw cannot be overlooked in favor of ice fishing.

Another party thrown by the wealthy for the wealthy, paid for by the
working classes. No different than the Olympics and other ostentatious
publicly-funded events in that respect.

That concept is a good description of the demographics of a place like North Oaks. And indeed, Neanderthal Rednecks provide a lot of monetary funding for fiascos such major sporting events to be held in downtown Minneapolis.

No kidding. Unless we're all getting refunds on the various taxes we've had
to pay for stadiums and other "downtown" expenses, I really have to question
anybody who claims there is any value or economic benefit at all.

These days the only benefit sought by such ventures is EGOTISTICAL SELF-GRATIFICATION for the myriads of untraveled, rube local individuals who believe this _colony_ (not even truly a city or urban region) is such an oh-so-great place to live and work.

Infuriating article in the StarTrib about NFL demands for SB consideration. God, you people are nuts. The money spent on this is outrageous. It 2nd century Roman. We really do need a revolution.

Blame it on the sports fans. If it weren't for those loudmouthed fools
demanding their hobby be catered to, there'd be no pro sports, no
stadiums, no taxpayer-funded school sports subsidies, no overcharging
on cable to subsidize sport channels, and no taxpayer funding of
sports-related parties for the rich.
