I just found out that some people require access to a computer and printer
to file their income taxes. If you have an amount due, you are required to
go to a website and print a voucher to accompany your payment. I can see
this as a real problem for many people, especially in the sparsely populated
parts of the state, people in wheelchairs, and so on. If you are in the
metro area and can get around you can go to a library that has a working
printer, so it simply wastes half your day. Not everyone is so lucky. I
suppose given several weeks, you can get around the rules. Send them a
letter, wait for it to settle on the right desk, they send you a letter
requesting essential information, you send them the data they need and they
send you a voucher.
Neat, huh?.
I haven't had to pay extra for the last several years, but the streak ended
this year. So I am late to the party.
The voucher allows them to withdraw funds from your bank electronically.
Other people have been withdrawing funds that way without my permission for
several years. They do have a nicely done site, though.
